Blackwell is a 1999 alumnus of Studio Arts College International (SACI) in Florence, Italy, and a 2001 graduate from Duke University as the first Studio Art major from the Trinity College of Arts & Sciences.

He joins international artists with an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) in conjunction with Australia’s National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) at the University of New South Wales.

Blackwell returned to Lubbock in 2015 to manage the marketing department of the Museum of Texas Tech University under an interim director, followed by PhD coursework as a Rawls PhD Scholar and professor of business and professional speaking at the College of Media & Communication.

Jonathan and his wife, Angela Nash-Blackwell serve as Managing Partners of Nashwell LLC, and she has served as President of the Board of the Medici Circle, raising scholarship funds for the Texas Tech University School of Art in the College of Visual and Performing Arts.
